List/Internet Questions:

L1: Is Scatterlings-L officially connected to Johnny Clegg or his management?

Johnny Clegg is not subscribed to the list, if that's what you were wondering. :-) The list is an unofficial labor of love, started by Sheila Millage in the spring of 1996. We are fortunate to have several music-industry people and journalists subscribed to the list.

L2: Are archives of postings to the list available?

Yes, at Sheila's site.

L3: Is it OK to discuss/review bootleg recordings, do tape trading, etc., on Scatterlings-L?

No. Promotion, sale, and advertising of bootlegs is absolutely banned. There is nothing more inclined to drive away the goodwill and involvement of promoters, record companies and band management than the promotion, sale, or exchange of bootlegged versions of concerts, disks or tapes. Individuals may choose to e-mail other members privately - that is their right. But as far as the list goes, any discussion of trading of tapes or borrowing or buying must be done privately. Thanks. (And thanks to an early list post by Peter Levy for this clear yet polite wording. :-)

L4: How many people are on this list?

As of early December 1996, about 120.

L5: Where are the people on this list from?

Sheila Millage maintains a list of Scatterlist subscribers (the "geolist") that indicates names and geographic locations. Only people who stated their willingness to be on the geolist are listed. E-mail Sheila for a copy of the list.

L8: Are there other websites I can check out?

Some other web sites of potential interest that have been recommended by list members follow. The last I checked these URLs, they were all more or less functional, but if when you try them things have moved, disappeared, or otherwise changed, please let me know. I've tried to eliminate repetition by not including music ordering sites and sites with online articles; see those sections of the FAQ for those websites.

http://www.angelfire.com/ak/ANDYPAGE/index.html Andy Innes' home page; so far, the only member of Juluka who has one.

http://www.ina.fr/CP/Music/Artistes/juluka/index.fr.html Juluka albums with photos of the album covers.

http://www.cs.wits.ac.za/faq/safrica/subsection3_11_3.html The music section of the SA FAQ maintained by Wits.

http://www.ru.ac.za/ilam.html International Library of African Music.

http://www.legends.org.za/arthurArthur Goldstuck's homepage: he's a journalist for the (South African) EMail & Guardian webzine, and a list member, and has an extensive site and series of links, including links to other good SA musicians.

http://www.military-art.com/brad1.html Internet Gallery of Military Art's Bud Bradshaw page. Bradshaw seems to specialise in the Anglo-Zulu war, and there are paintings on display there of Isalndhlwana and Rorke's Drift.
