WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • December 2001-present - R&D Engineer at Synopsys: conducted research and algorithm implementation for global optimization, nonlinear optimization applied to placement, stochastic optimization applied to software tuning

  • June 1998-November 2001 - Research Assistant at Caltech: succeeded in building several formulae for the effective normal velocity of a front moving in a heterogeneous material, constructed a C code simulating a forced curvature flow and verified some of the results obtained analytically

  • July 18th-28th, 2000 - participated in the Mathematical Modeling in Industry workshop for graduate students, organized by the Institute for Mathematics and its Applications at the University of Minnesota: member of a six student team that developed a method and a C/Matlab code for calculating parametrizations of an implicitly defined surface; mentor: Dr. Thomas Grandine, The Boeing Company; the results of my team's work may be found here

  • Academic year 2000-2001 - Teaching Assistant at Caltech for the Ae225c course (Special Topics in Solid Mechanics)

  • Third term of the academic year 1999-2000 - Teaching Assistant at Caltech for the Ae160c course (Continuum Mechanics of Fluids and Solids): conducted office hours, graded assignments and exams, created solution sets

  • Academic year 1997-1998 - Teaching Assistant at Caltech for the AMa95abc course (Introductory Methods of Applied Mathematics): lectured recitation sections, conducted office hours, graded assignments and exams, created solution sets
