Where's My Mommy?
Elizabeth Copeland
The terrorist attacks on September 11th were overwhelming; too much to
comprehend at one time. I found myself focusing on details as they were
reported in the news. But by the end of the day, what I was focusing on
was the lack of information about the children of the people who died in
the attack. Who was picking them up from school? How many of them lost a
parent that day? I found this remained the part that I could not let go of
so when this opportunity to make a quilt in reaction to this awful event
arose, I had to deal with the image of loss that would not leave me. By
making this quilt and another one to go to the Linus Project, I have
started to move on. But I know that we, as a community, will be called on
to help these children for years to come.
