Friends
Despite the fact that most of the people I know are scientists,
engineers, or computer programmers (yes I know, it's scary), most
of them don't seem to have web pages. C'mon guys, get with it! :)
In the meantime, here's some links to my more courageous friends
who don't mind putting details of their personal lives up on the
web for thousands of strangers to see...
- Robert Schafer
My husband, best friend, and climbing partner, all in
one good-looking package! :) Robert's got some cool pictures of
his various adventures on his site (including some from
his home country of Australia). (Note: Robert's site is down until he can find the
time to put it up on a new server, since he lost his space on CU's site after leaving
academia for industry.)
If you're interested in atmospheric science,
you can go read his PhD thesis.
- Catherine Boone
(Note: Catherine hasn't updated in a loooooooong time...)
Catherine shares my obsessions with strange TV shows, and my enjoyment
of reading sf books; she helped keep me sane during my senior
year at Caltech; she's graciously allowed me to drag her along
on several strenuous hiking trips to remote places, and didn't
kill me in my sleep when said trips caused her all sorts of physical
pain; in short, she's a terrific person and an awesome friend!
She's a really good writer, too; go check out her site for some
very well-written Highlander and FK fanfic.
- Ken Walsh and Christine Chen
Ken's really good at photography (and has far better camera
equipment than I ever will),
a great person to have along on a backpacking trip,
and is one of the few friends I have that shares my enthusiasm
for scuba diving. His wife Christine is equally awesome - when she and Ken aren't going
on cool photo excursions, she's an astronomer who
does some really nifty research (and gets to visit cool places like Hawaii and South
America for her job!).
- Phil Morgan
Phil's one of my co-workers at
Ball Aerospace.
He's been putting together a really nice site with lots
of trip reports from hikes and rock climbs that he's been on.
He's got plenty of great pictures on there, too!
- Gary Hann
Gary's another co-worker of mine at
Ball Aerospace.
He's done a lot of rock climbing, and if you want to see some cool
climbing photos, go look at his site.
- Jason Hollinger
Jason is, quite simply, a hiking, biking and climbing stud. Plus,
he's got the guts to live a life that many only dare to dream of -
every so often, he takes off for months at a time and has really
cool adventures. He's biked across the U.S., walked the Pacific
Crest Trail, explored the southwest's canyon country, visited many
interesting spots in foreign countries - and best of all, now he's
got an awesome web page with lots of pictures and trip reports from
his wanderings!
- Matt Hilliard
My brother Matt has a site up with ratings and reviews of books he's
read and movies he's watched. Since his taste, like mine, runs to
science fiction, I find it a useful reference!
