My Leslie 25

Here's the beginnings of information about my Leslie model 25.

This leslie is of the "single-ended" type. It uses a 6-pin connector: I believe the pinout to be compatible (identical) to that used by the 147, and other similar Leslie cabinets.

It is a one-speed model (either fast or off). There is only one rotor, which is similar to the lower (bass) rotor in a 122 or 147. There is no upper horn rotor. It contains a 20-watt amp which is connected to single 12-inch (Jensen) driver.

It actually sounds pretty good (in my tiny bedroom...) Certainly a big improvement over the M-3's single 12-inch built in speaker.

Circuitry

Unlike in the 122 and the 147, the motor control circuitry is in a separate chassis box from the power amp. (I think this is because the power amp was an option - some organs were wired to drive the leslie speaker directly.)

The 6-pin cable from the organ plugs in to "Leslie Type 28 Cabinet Connector" box. The type 28 box contains the motor switching relay and brake circuitry, as well as a two-pin connector for either the speaker (if driven directly) or a (8 ohm, 16 ohm, or non-existant) dummy load resistor if the amp is used. Here are scans of the schematic, ane of the underside of this box.

The "Leslie 25 Booster Amplifier" has a 6-pin plug on a short cable which plugs into the type 28 box. It contains a simple 20 watt amp. Here are scans of the schematic, and of the underside of the amp.

I also have drawn schematics for the connector kit (for connecting this leslie to the Wurlitzer I pulled it out of). Nothing real exciting - just a fuse, and a bunch of connectors with appropriate interconnections for a "tremolo" and a "main-echo" switch. Here's the schematics as a gif, and in PostScript form.

That's it for now. If you prod me by e-mail, I'll add more later.
