From: Juergen Krause Subject: Your www ISDN page To: dank@alumni.caltech.edu Date: Sun, 10 Sep 1995 15:37:46 +0200 (CDT) Content-Type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Hi Dan, we have just released our new verion (ISDN-Driver for FreeBSD), For more information see appended files (README COPYRIGHT) We alse have download the package on Server: ftp.uni-stuttgart.de File:/pub/comm/isdn/freebsd/ii.0.2.taz cioa Juergen Krause ---------README------------ II ISDN Interface Copyright: See the files COPYRIGHT and copying.doc Version: 0.2 (August 95) The ii packet is an ISDN interface for FreeBSD 2.x. This is the second release. It is still an idea, a framework. It is considered to be "PRE BETA". If you use it, you are a beta tester. There will be another year of work until it might be considered to be finished. It will - hopefully - change a lot. It supports the EDSS1 and the 1TR6 ISDN interfaces. 1TR6 support will phase out soon. EDSS1 is the "Euro-ISDN", 1TR6 is the obsolete german ISDN Interface. 1TR6 has not been tested with these drivers for a long time. It contains a set of drivers: Low level Driver for Dr. Neuhaus NICCY 3009. Actually not very stable. As well as for the "TELES BOARD" (TELES S0 and S0/16, Creatix and Niccy 1000). An intermediate level ISDN driver. High level drivers for raw IP, tty, and telephone answering. The IP driver is stable. It is used to connect to the Internet. The tty driver is rather stable. uucp, PPP and SLIP are still untested. The telephone answering is stable, but the user interface is very simple. Some support programs: A daemon to handle dialing and answering. Programs to load the intelligent cards. Debugging help. Programs to listen to your answering machine with sound blaster. What can you do with it: You may connect to the Internet through TCP/IP and a service provider supporting raw IP over ISDN. Either with raw HDLC frames or HDLC frames with UI header. If you are very adventures you might try to connect with PPP or SLIP through the ISDN tty interface. You may build your proper ISDN TCP/IP network. You may use the tty interface to dial in or out. You may use it to answer your telephone. The packet here includes only sources. It will compile with FreeBSD 2.05. Restrictions: Only one interface card ( with 2 B-channels ) is supported. In work: A complete Implementation of IP (PPP, VJ). Supporting more than one ISDN board per computer. To do: Documentation and a lot other stuff. The US ISDN Interface. A real telephone answering machine and more telephone support. Error reports, binaries and support: This distribution includes sources only. You will get no free support. If you have an error report or if you want to buy binaries or support contact: jkr@saarlink.de Juergen Krause, Buchenstr. 8, D-66497 Contwig/Stambach, Germany +49 6336 993002 +49 6336 993003 (fax) Acknowledgment: Many thanks to the people at Dr. Neuhaus, Hamburg for their support. Specially Klaus Muehle, Stefan Nerke and Daniel Piper. The alaw/ulaw programs are from the ISDN package of Matthias Urlichs. Matthias Urlichs code for the TELES board helped me a lot to write my own code for that board. In sys/isdn: lap.c, lap.h are based on the LAP-B code of Phil Karn, KA9Q.
