From: kxp@lanl.gov (Karl Pommer) Newsgroups: comp.dcom.isdn Subject: Rumor: US West ISDN Tariff Filing (?) For New Mexico Date: Thu, 2 Nov 95 19:51:42 GMT Organization: Los Alamos Lines: 39 Message-ID:An ISDN tariff filing is expected Nov. 30 according to the New Mexico State Corporation Commission's Ken Solomon . The state is interested in hearing e-mail comments from concerned New Mexicans. The tariff is expected to be limited to those ISDN equipped, telephone central offices in Alamo, Albuquerque, Bernalillo, Deming??, Farmington, Grants, Las Cruces, Los Alamos, Santa Fe, Silver, Taos, and White Rock. Basic Rate Interface (BRI) 2B+D service is expected to be offered at $39 for fully measured service, $68 for first 200 hours usage (measured after that) and $184 for flat, full-time usage service. All will have a $110 non-recurring charge for initial set-up. They are also expected to propose offering 23B+D Primary Rate Interface (PRI) voice/data service for $400/mo and non-recurring of $1,025. They are also expected to offer 23B channels (data only) PRI service at $583/mo and $1265 non-recurring. Hopefully this rumor will become fact ending a long wait for New Mexico. = = = = = Some obvious questions waiting future input and / or answers: (1) What will be the measured service cost per B-channel call minute ? (2) Will measures service be applicable to long distance calls? (3) Will measures service rates be applicable to calls within the same centron group (applicable to business customers)? (4) Will voice feature packages be AT&T "Custom" and/or standards based, National ISDN? (5) Can a residence have an ISDN line without having a POTS line given UPS power? (6) Will 2B+D BRI circuits be capable of two simultaneous data calls (128 Kbit/s bandwidth)? (7) What is the implementation schedule for rolling out this service? (8) When does US West plan to offer ISDN from non-ISDN capable central offices? (9) Will trunk circuits provide users with Caller ID information? --- The views expressed above are my own opinions ---- Karl Pommer (kxp@lanl.gov) Communication Eng.
