My newest photographic project is my nature photography business Rock Slide Photography. Check it out.
Here's some older, random photos that I haven't touched in years:
This is Chris (my wife) enjoying Everglades National Park, Florida. |
Chris again! This time we're in the aspens in Hope Valley, just South of Lake Tahoe, California. |
Tien Chiu, at a park in Mountain View, California, at sunset. |
Half Dome, as seen from the peak of Clouds Rest, Yosemite National Park, California. James Bell rests casually in the foreground. |
Yosemite Falls and the Diving Board seen from Glacier Point, Yosemite National Park, California. |
On January 4th, 1987, Chris and I managed to wake up unreasonably early after a big snowstorm had hit Yosemite, dumping two feet of snow on the valley floor and more above. By dawn the storm had cleared, and the sun created mists from the bits of snow hanging on the northern rim of the valley, creating the surreal sensation that the cliffs themselves were glowing. This picture does not come close to doing the effect justice. I take some consolation that neither Ansel Adams nor Galen Rowell could convey it either (although they are far closer than I.) |
A tree near Grant Park on Mt. Hamilton, near San Jose, California. |
Sunset off a lonely road north of Joshua Tree National Park, California. The reflection is from the T-tops of my MR2, I didn't have a tripod for this shot and had to prop the camera on the roof of the car for stability, in other words, it was a happy accident. |
Sailboat off the shore of Key Largo, Florida. |
Tree near San Luis Reservoir, east of Gilroy, California. |
Seascape along Highway 1, north of Santa Cruz, California. The odd colors are partially due to smoke, there was a large wildfire that weekend. |
The old Seven Mile Bridge in the Florida Keys, Florida. It doesn't actually go the distance anymore, but you can't see the end in the picture. The new bridge is much less scenic and is, in this picture, hidden from view by the old one. |

Sunset at Grand Canyon National Park |

It's difficult to make out, but if you look at the big image, you can see that the tubs on this truck are labeled 'Molten Aluminum'. This guy definitely has the right-of-way... This picture was taken from a moving car on a highway in the Columbia Gorge. |
Kids, don't try this at home. This is the actual shot of the speedometer on my old 1982 Trans Am as my odometer passed 66666.6 miles at roughly 66.6 miles per hour. Given my luck with that car, (should we discuss the three transmissions?) this is probably an appropriate momento. |
| People often ask me, how did you get that way? Perhaps this picture
provides part of the answer. (That's me on the right...) In a secretive warehouse in San Francisco, California, Greg Leyh plays with his "medium" Tesla Coil. He's been known to show this coil in shows put on by Survival Research Laboratories. This photograph was taken by Diana Coopersmith of San Francisco, California. (© Copyright 1996 Diana Coopersmith) |
