From www.huppah.com,
"The huppah is the marriage canopy under which the marriage rite of Judaism takes place. Enveloped by the beautiful quilt, the bride and groom experience the stages of erusin and nissuin, or betrothal and marriage. The huppah is not only used in a ceremonial manner, but also provides a decorative function."Our huppah is being built by my aunt, Ms. Wendi Wobbe in Annapolis, MD. Wendi is actually an experienced huppah builder, having built one before. Ours will be a freestanding huppah (at least we hope so!), constructed from PVC pipe, paint, ribbon, flowers, and a bridal veil that has been passed down through Donna's family.
