Endian Firewall
Endian Firewall (commonly referred to as EFW) is a wonderful turn-key, open-source Linux-based firewall system. As much as I like EFW, it does have some bugs and it also is missing some features that I want. To address these issues, I have set up an old computer as Endian development box. I have set up this site to share the fruits of my labors.
What you’ll find here
The goal of this site is to complement and supplement the software, documentation, and information provided by Endian. The information is organized as follows:
- Tips & how-to’s
- A variety of tips and “how-to” information that I’ve collected from user forums and mailing lists.
- Bug fixes
- Fixes and work-arounds for a variety of bugs in EFW.
- Extras & add-ons
- Additional software packages you can add to your EFW installation, including both things that I have packaged and links to things packaged by others.
- Updates
- Updates to individual EFW components (note that Endian generally only publishes updates to the entire EFW Community ISO, not to individual components).
- Other EFW resources
- Links to other places you can find useful information about EFW.
Share what you know and have
In addition to sharing what I do to customize my own EFW system and keep it current, I do my best to offer “one stop shopping” by either sharing or providing links to the works of others and other Endian-related web sites. So if you have (or know of) any interesting EFW-related information or resources that you think belong on this site, please let me know. If you package EFW updates or extras, I’ll be happy to host them on this site if you desire. My email address appears at the bottom of this page.
It’s all Open Source
All the software on this site is available under some variant of an OSI approved open source license. I believe that all my postings comply with the requirements of the particular open source licenses in question. If you find any cases in which I may have fallen short, please let me know so that I can make appropriate corrections. Thanks.
