- John Deere Health Care, Naperville IL. Software
Developer/analyst (Visual C++). Design/implementation of interface for retrieval of lab
test results using ASTM/HL7 standards, TAPI and TCP/IP communications.
Designed and developed GUI testing tool. Windows NT, MFC.
- Abbott Laboratories, Abbott Park IL. Software Developer
(Objective C). NeXTSTEP and relational database product
(11 foreground applications, 15 background applications) for interfacing
laboratory analyzers and patient tracking, test ordering and results
viewing applications. Projects included work with patient tracking,
test ordering and results viewing foreground applications as well as
designing and coding an object-oriented background application to
communicate with a laboratory analyzer (RS-232 interface,
ASTM formatted data). Application was localized (5 languages) and
used distributed objects.
- Abbott Laboratories, Abbott Park IL. Validation and Verification Engineer. Software
testing on NeXTSTEP and relational database product (11 foreground applications, 15 background applications).
Testing included use of SQL for product testing and Oracle based test management tool. Wrote DOS-based tool
for in-lab testing of product.
- Abbott Laboratories, Abbott Park IL. System Requirements Engineer; Lotus Notes macro
and Word Basic macro development.
1991-1993: Principal Engineer, Applied Utility Systems, Inc., Santa Ana, CA.
Coordinated computer applications and systems for entire engineering and support staff.
- Designed customized computer network linking existing network with new 24 station network.
- Provided technical support for all software and computer hardware. Extensive experience, including macros
and programming, for the following MS-DOS and Windows applications: WordPerfect, Quattro Pro, Lotus 123
and Symphony, Paradox, Q&A, graphics (Freelance, Harvard and Stanford). Evaluated and recommended new
software and hardware.
1986-1991: Performance Engineer, Luz Engineering Corporation, Boron, CA. Provided
computing and engineering support for the operations and maintenance of eight solar thermal/gas-fired power
plants.
- Installed and maintained 10-station Lantastic network.
- Automated direct downloading of power plant performance data from remote site.
- Decoded power plant data stored in a proprietary format and wrote program to translate encrypted files into
ASCII data files.
- Wrote spreadsheet application for data entry, data linking and generation of multiple reports.
- Provided technical support for software and computer hardware.
