So you want to learn how to program, eh? You are a brave soul to dare to enter the world of the Robowarrior. The best way to start is to observe the creations of other Robowarriors in action, then look at the code. This will allow you to see which instructions correspond with which actions.(Reading (Ugh!) the instructions in the online documentation may make this easier).
Start by looking at simple robots, such as those that come in "Robots" and "More Robots" folders that came with Robowar. After doing this for a while, try building your own simple robots. Do they win? Gradually work your way up to more sophisticated robots. If you have the determination, you should be able to program high-quality 'bots within a month.
Sounds simple, you say? I have yet to give you all the details. Your competition wil be varied and stiff. You will face robots that make psychotic dashes at you, robots that sit back and track you, and those who simply move around while firing shots at machine gun frequencies.
If you want to know how your robots stack up to those of others, you should enter a tournament. Tournaments have several categories(which I shall discuss later.), which you may enter for a small fee(or sometimes even for free). The winners get the glory and a portion of the entry fees(if any).
