Bridget married a very nice man named Jason on August 14. So, Antony and I drove up to Palo Alto for the reception. It was a friendly and casual affair with wedding carrot cake--yum! The day after, while Bridget and Jason headed off to Vancouver and a cruise to Alaska for their honeymoon, Antony, my Uncle Don, and I headed east to Vallecito to tour Moaning Cavern. It's a vertical cave, and our adventure started with a 165 foot rappel into the main chamber; the original tours lowered folks down in a bucket! We all arrived safely at the bottom and then headed into the lower caves for crawling, wriggling, and climbing in the mud and darkness. we eventually emerged back at the main chamber. Our last challenge? The spiral staircase back out to sunlight. |
