It is time for another ConnieFest and this year the festivities and poker were on the same day. We had to stop playing for a bit while we all gathered around the speaker phone when Connie Chung called, but we went back the poker soon thereafter. I played in two tournaments and came in 3rd out of 9 then 5th out of 11. Of course neither one was enough to give me any money. After that we went to a cash game.
It was another tough night. In six hours I didn't have a single straight nor flush, I had big slick only once, and the best pocket pairs I had were sixes. They came through in a big way as they turned into a boat, but that was my big win of the night. The rest of the time I kept just limping in and playing very aggressively with cards that could have gone badly (and often did). There were a few bad calls on my part and they mostly came from being bored and wanting to play (and seeing people take good pots with marginal hands).
