-35 @ The Commerce Casino

This night was filled with consistently good cards: A,Q seven times, A,K two times, A,J several times, pocket 10s, pocket J. The problem was is that they just didn't come through for me. As an example, with A,J of hearts I raised pre-flop only to get all black 2,2,K in return. I'm not even going to call a bet. Another time I had A,9 suited and got 8,9,9 on the flop. Very cool. K on the turn makes it even better. No flush possibility. So almost any card on the river is a good card for me except for the K that actually came. Even though my hand improved I would rather it didn't. Anyone with a K has got me beat. Still, I bet it and got two callers. I ended up splitting the pot with a 9,3 offsuit. He wasn't a blind and it was a raised pot before the flop. Welcome to the Commerce Club.

Guy was nice enough to call a poker matinee so I was able to stay for quite a long time. I dealt for a few hours and once again I don't think that it helped my night. I had decent cards but often got paddled on the river. I did make a straight flush and got a decent pot of of it, but the coolest hand was when I started with QQ in late position. I called the raised pot and the flop came Q,5,Q. Wow! Theoretically someone could still go runner runner to beat me, but that's such a slim possibility that I didn't even consider it. My worry was how I could get the most money out of this pot. Jerry bet, Guy raised (!) and I just smooth called. A 5 on the turn and Jerry bet, Guy called and I raised. Jerry called and after a long time Guy folded. He got upset when the K came on the river. That K wouldn't have helped him. Jerry checked to me, I bet and he called with the comment "I don't think you have a Q". He was right, I didn't have a Q. I had two of them! He had a 5 and Guy had A,K.
