Optical Design for National Ignition Facility Description: $1.3 billion Dept. of Energy facility at Lawrence Livermore National Labs (LLNL), currently under construction. The large laser system uses 192 beams to deliver energy to a fuel capsule the size of a BB, in order to perform research on nuclear fusion. My Role: Consulting and optical engineering support; emphasis on the Final Optics Assembly, which focus the beams onto the fuel target.
