Near IR Spectrometer for UCLA/Keck Telescope

  • Description: 1-5µm near-infrared spectrometer being built by the UCLA Astronomy Dept. for installation at the Keck II telescope on Mauna Kea, Hawaii. Operating cryogenically and in vacuum, the cross-dispersed echelle spectrometer utilizes an all-reflective, unobscured design for maximum light throughput. See McLean et.al., "NIRSPEC", SPIE Vol. 2475, p.350.
  • My Role: Early conceptual design studies for the optics, optical design including a novel, f/2.8 TMA telescope, fabrication and alignment support.
