Adventure Hiking in Pasadena Glen
January, 1998

Located almost directly above the town of Pasadena in the foothills of Mt. Wilson is Pasadena Glen, an unusually rugged canyon.

Before the hike, we loaded up all our gear and clothing. Why do I always have to carry the rope? We're smiling now...

A picture of the group -- Mark, Garrett, Professor Brennen, and Simone.

After hiking up to Henninger Flats and traversing over to the top of the canyon via an abandoned fire road, we descended into the heart of the canyon. We touched bottom just below a very narrow segment of the canyon that may or may not have been negotiable.

A view back up into a narrow section of the canyon.

Further on down the canyon, after several smaller rappels, we encountered a series of waterfalls totalling approximately 75 feet in height. This called for the first and only single strand rappel of the day.

Professor Brennen beginning the largest rappel of the day.

Simone beginning the same rappel.

Unfortunately, our trip was ended early by darkness, requiring that we hike out of the canyon by climbing a fairly steep and loose slope by flashlight. After attaining a ridge that we had determined would be suitable for an escape route, we descended back to the car.
