Flems and friends reunited over lunch during Alumni Weekend
(May 16, 1998) at Burger Continental in Pasadena, migrating east to Petrillo's and
several party-size pizzas (and, of course, beer) as the afternoon progressed.
In true Flem fashion, the festivities continued over Memorial Day Weekend, moving north to
chez Rousseau (San Jose), where Ken ran the barbecue, Leslie produced additional
food and drink, Jacqueline and Monique kept all the other kids (not to mention their parents)
entertained. Somewhere in there a bunch of Hula Hoops appeared, not to mention several
yearbooks full of embarrassing (but entertaining) photos most of us had forgotten about.
For those of you who missed it (or for those who were there but couldn't remember some
of the people at the table), the guys at the Pasadena party included Tim, Linda and
Connor Ahern; Frank and Hannah Bernstein; Doug Bourne; Sue Fuhs and Dave Fink;
Peter German; Ken Rousseau; and Jesse and JoAnn Slater.
The Rousseau bash featured lots of folks over three days but the names scribbled on my list
which I can still read include Sheri, Jamie, Jack, Lance and Landon Abbott; Jill,
Korak, Jill and Tina Mitra; Sue and Dave (again); Gary and
Patti Tornquist; Mike, Carol and Angelica Pearson; Larry and Jane Friedrich; Vic Manzella;
David Huff and Janet Poses; my husband Ian (who really enjoyed all those old recorded
Flem songs of Jamie's and decided Techers weren't such nerds after all)
and myself (Melody McLaren); and finally, our magnificent hosts, Ken, Leslie,
Jacqueline and Monique Rousseau.
I've inserted email links in the captions for the people I know but you can also
view the complete list
of Flems or register with the Flems and Friends listserve.
If you have other photos of Flems or their families you'd like to share, send them to me at melody.mclaren@bitc.org.uk. I expect a good crop over the holidays and I promise to get them up on the Web more quickly from now on!

Jesse Slater (with wife JoAnn)
entertained us all with a vivid description of
his current occupation, thereby proving that Flems can turn their hands to just about
anything interesting. If you want more details, you'll have to ask him yourself! |
