How to read TimesFax

To be able to read the TimesFax New York Times synopsis, you need modify the files .mailcap and .mime.types in your home directory. If you don't have those files, simply create them. You can also copy mine, though they are set for my machine, which may be different from yours (not for AcroRead, but for other things).

.mime.types: Add the line:
application/pdf pdf PDF

.mailcap: Add the line:
application/pdf; /usr/local/AcroRead_1.0/bin/acro %s

The main URL is http://nytimesfax.com/; within that, If you click on "Today's TimesFax", it will create a new "Adobe AcroRead" window with the results. Note: The "Print" button within Adobe Acrobat does not work (it's a known bug). It is possible to print, but neither fast nor elegant. If you need to, ask me. It saves trees, if nothing else.

Federal tax forms and publications are also available in this format. You want the "pdf" versions. The postscript versions from that site were generated with this same software: they won't print either.
