In August 2002 I start as an assistant professor of physics at Penn State.

I think perhaps the most important problem is that we are trying to understand the fundamental workings of the universe via a language devised for telling one another where the best fruit is. |

My main research interest is the detection of gravitational waves.
People call this relativity,
but I wind up doing most of physics except relativity.
For those who want the technical details, I maintain a
list of publications.
For some more digestible tidbits, see my
research pages.
I've also collected a few
news clippings.
I went to Europe for two years, because it's there.
But it's good to be back in civilization, i.e.
Milwaukee.
Before my official curriculum vitae begins:
I was born in San Luis Obispo, California
and grew up mostly in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
I spent my one year of high school (1987-1988)
as a future recovering giftie at the
Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the
Arts.
