welcome to the peachy nexus...

this is the web site of chris hurwitz.

at present, it's in its fledgling state. i'm working on a major structural and graphical overall offline and uploading sections as i finish them.

to start, the site has pretty standard ambitions. the first, like all the other personal sites, is to give you a taste of me. the web's pretty adept at this task. i can publish as much as i want, and you can ignore as much as you want. neat, eh.

the second goal is to organize all the web links i collect from around the world into a usable hypertext reference library. the bookmarks feature in most browers is useful, but tends to get swamped to inutility pretty quickly.

the final goal is a bit more ambitious. as a writer, i collect scraps of information on all kinds of topics, from the inanely esoteric to the boringly mainstream. sometimes i even sit down an think about these snipits and generate my own thoughts based on them. of course, this process simply generates still more snipits, which lead to more thought, which....

all this snipit generation tends to be well and good. the more thoughts i explore, the more i tend to learn. but sometimes my brain has a way of slipping into a rut. a little carefully cross-referenced self justification can lead to a tower of self-sustaining preconceptions pretty quickly.

the idea then: overtime, as time allows, i will create an organized library of all kinds of info scraps, links to such whenever possible. newsfeed clippings, quotes from other writings, technical explanations, etc... i will include among these scraps my perceptions, extrapolations, conclusions, predictions, and general thoughts on the meaning and implications buried therein. and i will provide an interface (forms in the html 3.0 world) for others to post their thoughts, rebuttals, and rebukes, as well as snipits and scraps of their own.

now you've got it. my own private net news. what a mess!

well, the plan is to keep a bit more reign on it than that. saying anymore would be foolish at this point. time will work it out as it always does.

in the meantime, if you have any comments on the plan, or just know of some neato url's i should check out, drop me mail at peachy@alumni.caltech.edu.

webslinging into the night...
