Berteig
Family

Ross' family held a second world-wide Berteig Family Reunion in the summer of 1996. About 120 people attended, including nearly all of the Berteigs currently in North America, and a delegation of about 20 came all the way from Norway.

Ross can be found online about three times a week. rberteig@alumni.caltech.edu is intended to be a permanent mail address, and will get read eventually. Other ways to contact Ross may also exist.

PRC

The Pasadena Republican Club is the country's oldest Republican club. As a Pragmatic Libertarian, I am serving on the PRC board, and working to advance the principles of small, non-involved government from within the party.
Someday the PRC will have a website. After memorial day, there will once again be a Pasadena campaign headquarters. Both these addresses will be announced here.

As a result of the actions of the President, I have become personally interested in national politics.
Unlike the current administration, I believe that democracy thrives on the free flow of ideas. Debate is critical to the success of democracy. Truth and honesty are critical components of a sound administration. Principled debate is impossible without principles. And, finally, "Partisan" is not a dirty word.
Since today is April 15, I will ask that all American Taxpayers write, call, FAX, and otherwise bother their congress-critters to support a complete replacement of the present income tax system by a single-rate national sales tax
I spent approximately 50 man-hours preparing 1 pound of documents for delivery to the IRS and the California FTB this year. The resources spent nationwide on compliance with the tax code could certainly be better used for productive purposes. There is nothing evil about financial success. We all want to be successful. So why do we punish success?

Monrovia
Weather

My weather station is installed on the roof, and has seen plenty of rain this season (1997-8), but I have stopped attempting to transcribe the data for the web.
As of April 15, 1998, I have a total of 34.65 inches of rain accumulated for the season, as compared to a total of only 18.8 inches for all of last season.
