• Cambodia

    Automatic:

    In July 2003, I bought a 100 baht (USD$2.50) ticket for a unforgettable journey from Bangkok, Thailand to Siem Reap, Cambodia. From the back window of beat-up old bus driving down unpaved roads, I saw a glance of abject poverty constrasting a beautiful, flat, unspoiled countryside.

  • France

    Automatic:

    Located on the banks of the river Rhine and the France-Germany border, Strasbourg was a bustling commercial center in the middle ages. Here I participated in a two-month summer program in the space sciences, engineering, business, and policy at the International Space University.

  • Germany

    Automatic:

    In September 2000, I worked at the Max Planck Institute for Physics in Munich. While working here, I visited the Bavarian Alps for the first time with Dana and Burkard Reisert, who is as great a tour guide as a particle physicist. These pictures, however, are from my second visit, accompanied by a group of fellow ISU SSP'03 participants.

  • Hong Kong

    In November 2002, before the SARS scare, I spent a week in Hong Kong for a Luce Scholars Program discussion session. Kowloon side is a bit dirty. However, Hong Kong Island and Macau, a separately administered part of China with Portuguese influence, are amazing!

  • Japan

    Automatic:

    From September 2002 until July 2003, I lived and worked in Japan as a Luce Scholars Program participant. I performed superconductivity research at the International Superconductivity Technology Center (ISTEC) in Tokyo.

  • South Korea

    Automatic:

    While living in Japan as a Luce Scholar, I crossed the Sea of Japan (aka East Sea) to visit South Korea. Accompanied by Jamin and Robyn, fellow Luce Scholars living in Japan, I visited the South Korean - North Korean demilitarized zone (DMZ), Seoul, a pottery village, and parts of the southern region.

  • Thailand

    Automatic:

    After leaving Japan, I traveled to Bangkok. Traveling with Dirk, I visited Bangkok and the islands of Ko Tao and Ko Samet.

  • United Kingdom

    Automatic:

    In 2003, I was admitted to the Physics Department at the University of Cambridge in England. I seriously considered attending for graduate school, thus visited in March 2003. Luckily, the weather was unseasonably warm and clear!

    Currently, the only digital camera pictures that I have of the US are of Thousand Oaks, California in the Los Angeles area.
