Heartbreak Hill

Heartbreak Hill comes at mile 20 but I was broken long before that - starting at mile 13 the wheels had simply come off. My excuse is spending the previous three days at the expo working, on my feet all day and not getting much to eat. I think I just "ran out of gas." Which was too bad because I wasn't able to appreciate the last half of the course nearly as much as the first.

I did actually "run" up Heartbreak Hill - point of pride and all that. Coming down the back side was another story. Unfortunately I missed the statue of Johnny Kelley at the foot of Heartbreak - didn't really know where to look, and there were just a *few* people in the way. :-)

On Beacon St. you get your first view of the Pru (Prudential Center), so the end is in sight. Unfortunately, we also started to get a bitter cold wind. The day was still beautiful and clear, as you can see, but it was cold for someone dressed in a singlet.
