The Race Begins!

To say that people were excited at the start would be putting it mildly. To say
that it was packed at the start would also be putting it mildly! But amazingly,
within a quarter mile we were starting to run - the downhill at the start
certainly helped to get people off the starting line once they stopped mugging
for the cameras. First mile passed in only 9:34, not bad at all.

The first row of trees outside of town seemed to hold a special fascination for
the runners, particularly the male runners. A steady *stream* of runners headed
that way. The picture has been blurred to hide the identities of those involved.. :-)
