My family:I was born in a little village in the Bankura district of West Bengal, India. My parents live in Pune, India. My wife Tricia Sur has her own web site which you can check out. She has a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering and specializes in fluid and thermal dynamics. Our daughter Mira is two years old.

My mother Suprabha Sur, has a master's degree in Zoology. She is primarily a housewife now, though she has taught zoology in a college from time to time. She is an accomplished cook with recipes which have been published in English language national newspapers in India. She has also published a few articles in the English language press on various subjects. In addition she has directed and acted in stage productions of Bengali language plays.

My father Saradindu Sur, retired as the Vice-President of Engineering at Krupps (India) Ltd. a little while ago. He is a Mechanical Engineer, specializing in heavy material handling equipment.

I have one elder sister, Saumya Adhicary who also lives in Pune, India. She is a paediatrician specializing in neonates, and has two sons (my nephews) named Shomik and Shubho. Her husband, Sanjay Adhicary is a chartered accountant and works for Ned-Lloyd.
